Collections

The Stafford Library specializes in books, periodicals, and electronic resources in the fields of business and education. The Library owns selected ERIC documents on microfiche from 1966-1990 and a complete set from 1991-2003. A Children’s Literature Collection of fiction and nonfiction works routinely displays winners of the Newbery, Caldecott, and Coretta Scott King Awards. A small Career Collection has been provided by Career Services, and is available to individuals seeking information on resume writing, job interviews, and career advancement.

EDCI 589 and 590 Individual Research Projects

Print copies of EDCI 589 and EDCI 590 Individual Research Projects are archived and available at the Circulation Desk for use within the Stafford Library. Projects are arranged by call number and are searchable by Title, Author and/or Subject in the UMW Libraries’ Catalog (perform a Keyword Search and select “Stafford Arch” from the Location Filter menu).

For EDCI 590: students must provide two unbound paper copies of their final reports to their project advisors.  The project advisors will have the projects hardbound and delivered to the Stafford Campus Library for inclusion in the physical archive.  Any questions about this process should be directed to the project advisor.

For EDCI 589: students must provide their project advisor with a bound copy of the project in order for it to be included in the library’s physical archive. The binding should be a permanent Velo binding, available at most quick-print stores, such as FedEx Kinkos. The front cover should be made of a clear plastic so that the title page shows through. The back cover should be made of a sturdy black vinyl or paper board. Additional formatting requirements (e.g. margin width, page layout, or type fonts) and preparation of supplemental materials (e.g. CDs or videos) should be determined in consultation with the project advisor.

UMW Libraries is planning to digitize and make available EDCI 589 and 590 Projects via Archives @ UMW, the University of Mary Washington’s Digital Library Repository. To submit your approved 589 or 590 project to Archives @ UMW, please see our FAQ or visit the Submission site at http://archivesatumw.umwblogs.org/. PLEASE SEE OUR NOTICE OF PROJECT SUSPENSION BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR PROJECT.
