Paper Submission Guidelines

Paper Submission Guidelines

UMW Libraries no longer accepts physical copies of Honors or Master’s papers for addition to the University Archives. Electronic copies of these works are collected and preserved in UMW Libraries’ digital repository, Archives@UMW.

  • Guidelines for Honors Papers

Most academic departments have criteria in place for students seeking Departmental Honors. Students who wish to demonstrate excellence in their field of study should consult their department chair for requirements. Departmental Honors are recorded on each student’s official transcript. Departmental Honors students should follow the guidelines below to submit the Submission Form and License and upload the final version of their work to the Archives@UMW digital repository by the last day of Finals Week.

How to Submit Your Honors Paper

    1. Save the final, advisor-approved version of your work in Adobe Acrobat PDF format
    2. Login to the paper submission website
    3. Read and accept the terms of the submission form and license agreement
    4. Enter the personal and descriptive submission information into the online form
    5. Upload the PDF copy of your work
    6. Press “Submit Work” to complete the process
    7. Review your submission information for correctness and make any necessary edits
    8. Electronically sign the submission agreement and university honor pledge

After you have submitted your paper and you have been approved for Departmental Honors, the full text of the document will be made available in the Archives@UMW repository. Your work will also be indexed and available through online search engines, and a description of your paper will appear in the UMW Libraries online catalog.
